What is the Falun World Heritage Site?

The Falun World Heritage Site is one of Sweden’s most unique UNESCO World Heritage Sites and reflects over a thousand years of Swedish history. The copper mine in Falun shaped both the landscape and the people, and traces of its influence can still be seen today in the architecture, culture, and spirit of the city. The boundaries of the World Heritage Site include the Falun copper mine, Stora Stöten, the slag heaps, and the historic neighborhoods surrounding the mine.
