What is the Glögg Walk in the World Heritage City, and when does it take place?

The Glögg Walk in the World Heritage City is a Christmas city walk where you stroll by lantern light through the alleys and along the Falun River. The walk ends at Gamla Herrgården and features charming stories about Christmas traditions: why Santa Claus is red, what the oldest Christmas dish is, what a Christmas pole is, and why it’s called Christmas. A warm drink with a snack is served at the end of the walk at Vass Brita’s farm. The tour takes place in Övre Åsen and Gamla Herrgården during the Christmas season.

The “Falun in the Evening” tour is a walking tour of the city, taking you from Falun’s rugged side to its charming side. Linné’s Wedding Cottage is a historic building that is part of the Falun World Heritage Site and has been designated a historic landmark since 1968. This is where Carl von Linné married Sara Lisa. During the guided tour, you’ll learn about the secrets of the murals, historically interesting figures connected to the farm, and what a miner’s farm actually is.

Who is Anna-Lena, and what is her background as a guide?

Anna-Lena Söderlund Törnell is the owner and founder of Faluguide. She grew up in Sundborn and began working as a tour guide at the Carl Larsson Farm when she was just 14 years old. She has since worked as a tour leader and guide all over the world—in the U.S., Australia, Europe, and Asia—and is a Certified Tour Manager (CTM) from Breda College in the Netherlands. Today, she is an authorized Dalaguide, an authorized Stockholm guide, and a nationally certified professional guide with a special interest in Falun’s World Heritage Site.

Can families with children participate in your tours?

Yes! Children can join almost all of our city walks. We also offer a special family walk in the World Heritage Forest that’s suitable for all ages. During the walk, you’ll follow in the footsteps of the miners, learn about the copper mine’s 1,000-year history, and meet grazing animals at the Nature School. A forest pancake is included in the price, and there are great swimming spots at Lilltorpet after the walk.
